What Is Christian Calling?
There are THREE kinds of Christian calling...
God’s UNIVERSAL CALL to all people for salvation
"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life." – John 3:16
Your calling begins when you ask Jesus to forgive you of your sins and give Him control of your life.
God’s GENERAL CALL to all Christians to love Him and love other people
"[Jesus] answered, 'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind; and love your neighbor as yourself.' – Luke 10:27
God’s SPECIFIC CALL to every Christian to make a difference for Him
"It is in Christ that we find out who we are and what we are living for." – Ephesians 1:11
This Bible verse shows that calling is FIRST about WHO YOU ARE, and SECOND about WHAT YOU DO! As you BE genuinely yourself in relationships with Him and people, you will more fully DO your calling!
Who Has a Calling?
Every Christian is God’s precious child!
Some people believe that clergy have a higher calling than other people. I respect that opinion but do not see much biblical evidence for it. Every Christian is God’s precious child! Every Christian is His hands, feet, and voice in the world! We are not saved just so that we can go to heaven! We are also saved to make an eternal difference for Jesus here on earth!
Does Calling Stay the Same?
Calling is a combination of BEING and DOING.
The BEING might not change much...
You are always YOU. However, the longer you live in Christ, the more you discover and learn to appreciate your unique identity. The confidence for the DOING part of your calling will emerge from a more authentic BEING.
The DOING might change many times!
As you grow in clarity and confidence about your BEING (who you are), God transitions you to a newer and better fit for the DOING part of your calling. This happens regardless of age, health, finances, or circumstances.
When Can Christian Coaching Help With Your Calling?

You sense your calling is changing
You know your calling but can’t seem to gain traction

Find out what God wants you to DO, and then DO it. It's certainly important to obey God! However, prioritizing serving God before the relationship with Him causes anxiety, workaholism, health problems, and burnout.
